About Betty J. Lynn-Benson

Betty Lynn-Benson has enjoyed the better part of her life living in rural areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan.  A country girl at heart with a free spirit, it was no accident that she was raised on a ranch in East-Central Alberta.  She is a lover of nature and has always had a strong connection with the land and the animals that are in her care.

Head strong and a bit of a rebel has made her no stranger to hard times.  She will tell the stories of her adoption, finding her birth Mom, and how this can answer questions you may have if you are an adoptee or if you have children you adopted and are wondering when to ‘tell’ them about it.  Betty will also tell a heart wrenching story of raising a child that made some choices that did not coincide with her own and how she had to sever that relationship and how she re-built her life.  She was with her Dad upon his deathbed and held him as he slipped peacefully from this world and her look at faith, life, death, the hereafter and the grieving process.  She will also tell the story of divorce, being a single parent and finding love again and all the struggles in between. 
 
Her candid, insightful look into subjects sometimes rarely talked about will bring the reader to a place of deep reflection, tears and even laughter.  Betty opens her heart and bears her soul to tell her stories with grace, humility and even humour. 
 
A dynamic, passionate speaker, Betty will keep you engaged from the moment she takes the stage.  You will be left wanting to hear more.  The same can be said about her books, the reader is left wanting to hear the ‘rest of the story’.  The audience or reader is always left with a message of inspiration and hope.

Betty has a Bachelor of General Studies in Arts and Science, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Criminology and has acquired many certificate courses over her lifetime.  She has spent many years working in Corporate Canada, but is most proud of her time spent in Humanitarian roles such as Victim Services, the John Howard Society and as a Restorative Justice practitioner.  She has gleaned much knowledge working in and around the Justice field as she has spent time with both victim and offender working toward healing and reparation of both parties.
    
Betty and her husband currently reside on an acreage in Southern Alberta.  Walking her dogs along the river is a favorite past-time.
